Dr Marie Gomot INSERM, Tours, France
|
Marie Gomot completed an MSc in Physiology and a PhD in Neurosciences at the University of Tours at the INSERM Unit 316 (France).
At the same time she gained her MA and a further postgraduate qualification in clinical Psychology and was trained to become a clinical psychologist in the department of child psychiatry at the Tours hospital.
Her previous research involved two domains:
- Study of auditory perception and discrimination in normally developed children and in children with autism. The aim was to identify specific indices of the cerebral dysfunction involved in autism, using non-invasive electrophysiological methods (ERPs mapping).
- Characterization of clinical phenotypes in families with non specific X-linked mental retardation (XLMR), using neurocognitive and behavioral assessment. The purpose of these studies was to help search for candidate genes and to gain new insights in the function of the XLMR genes in the development and physiology of cognitive functions.
She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge investigating sensitivity to auditory changes in people with autism by using fMRI.
