Dr Dorothea Floris
University of Zurich
Dorothea (Dori) completed her PhD on the MRC funded Cambridge Family Study of Autism. She studied whether handedness is a marker of cerebral lateralisation and how this relates to global brain volume, asymmetry and specific brain regions such as the corpus callosum, the amygdala and the planum temporale. She also tested whether autism involves an anomalous pattern of hemispheric specialisation and if cerebral asymmetry is associated with levels of foetal testosterone. She continues to collaborate with Dr Meng-Chuan Lai and Dr Amber Ruigrok on the MRC and EU AIMS studies. She was supervised by Professor John Suckling. She did her first postdoc at the NYU Langone Medical Center, New York City, and is now working as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition & Behaviour, Radbound University, Nijmegen.
