Dr Juan Pablo del Río

Assistant Professor, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health, University of Chile
Dr. Juan Pablo del Río is a specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, trained at the University of Chile. He currently works as a faculty member and researcher in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health at the same institution. His research focuses on the impact of hormonal imbalances on adolescent mental health. Currently, he is collaborating with the ARC to advance the understanding of the prenatal sex steroid theory, specifically studying how hyperandrogenism may affect the development of social cognition in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
In addition to his research, Dr. del Río is a strong advocate for adolescent mental health. He contributes to awareness programs and workshops for educators and parents and frequently engages in public outreach through national media. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was named one of the 20 Young Physician Leaders worldwide by the International Inter Academy Partnership in Berlin, Germany, in 2022.
