Dr. Kotter is interested in the biology of adult CNS stem and precursor cells in the context of medical conditions. He is a collaborator on the Neurexin 1 (NRXN1) project which is investigating why mutations in this gene that can cause autism in some individuals and not in others. The NRXN1 project is a collaboration between Cambridge, Kings College London and University of Pennsylvania and is funded by the Autism Research Trust
