Dr Sarah Griffiths

Lecturer Autism Research Centre, University College London

Sarah Griffiths is a Postdoctoral Research Associate funded by the Autism Research Trust. She is currently looking at indicators of vulnerability in autistic children in the National Pupil Database and linked Social Services databases.

Sarah joined the ARC as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in 2016 to lead the Autism and Vulnerability project funded by Autistica and the Autism Research Trust. In this project she ran focus groups and an online survey to identify key areas of vulnerability in the lives of autistic adults and children. She then investigated how experiences of vulnerability were associated with mental health symptoms and quality of life.

Sarah has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Birmingham and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Bristol. She now splits her time between the Autism Research Centre and the Language, Literacy and Communication lab at UCL where she is a Post-doctoral Research Associate on the Surrey Communication and Language in Education study.

Sarah is interested is in understanding risk factors for mental health conditions that often cooccur with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism. She is interested both in social risk factors (e.g. abuse/bullying/social vulnerability) and in cognitive risk factors (e.g. emotion recognition and regulation skills).
