Professor Bhismadev Chakrabarti

Professor of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Reading University

Bhisma is Professor of Neuroscience and Mental Health, and Research Director of the Centre for Autism at the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences, University of Reading. He holds an honorary position in the Cambridge University Autism Research Centre, where he conducted his PhD and postdoc research.

He studies empathy, emotion processing, and autism, using neuroimaging and genetics. He read Chemistry at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, India and Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge. During his postdoc he was elected as the Charles and Katharine Darwin Research Fellow at Darwin College, Cambridge.

His current research focuses on testing the links between reward and autism, and continues to collaborate with the Autism Research Centre on projects related to genetics,  neuroimaging, and the cognitive phenotype.
