Professor Tal Biron-Shental

Chairwoman and Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division, Meir Medical Center

Prof. Tal Biron-Shental currently works as the Chairwoman and Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division at Meir Medical Center, Kfar Saba, affiliated to Tel–Aviv University.

She earned a medical degree from The Technion – Israel Institution of Technology. Following a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, she sub-specialized in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital affiliated to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Prof. Biron has contributed to decades of peer-reviewed articles. She has been a co-investigator and principal investigator on basic science and clinical research of different studies in the field of maternal fetal medicine. She has studied preeclampsia, hypertension in pregnancy, intrauterine growth restriction, gestational diabetes, thrombophilic disorders, prediction and prevention of preterm birth as well as other obstetrical complications.

Prof. Biron teaches medical students from Tel Aviv University and residents in obstetrics and gynecology and she is an active member of the Israeli societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She is a member of several professional committees of OBGYN including the Israeli committee that writes the clinical guidelines in maternal-fetal medicine as well as the board examinations.
