Ramya Warrier
Doctoral Scientist
Ramya is a PhD student supervised by Prof. Simon Baron-Cohen, Dr. Carrie Allison, and Dr. Richard Bethlehem, and her work is funded by Trinity College, Cambridge. Her research aims to link the brain, cognition, and behaviour in autism. Systemizing is the ability to identify patterns and understand system rules, whether mechanical, mathematical, or abstract. In autism, these abilities are often heightened, leading to strengths in tasks involving structure and logic. Ramya’s research focuses on developing novel performance tests for systemizing and investigating the neural basis of systemizing using advanced neuroimaging techniques. Her work could improve our understanding of cognition in autism and inform interventions and support strategies- enhancing the quality of life for autistic individuals. Before starting her PhD, she completed an MSc in Neuroscience from the University of Oxford. Earlier in her academic journey, before moving to the UK, she earned an MSc in Cognitive Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and completed her BA in Psychology at Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science in India. When not in the lab, Ramya enjoys reading books under a tree, playing with dogs, and creating art.
